"Sawed in Half" - A Journey of Voice and Authenticity.
Inspired by a childhood message to stand up for women’s rights, my play explores the challenges of breaking free from societal expectations. Drawing from the lives of my grandmother, mother, and myself, I weave poetry, personal reflections, and humor to confront the lingering patriarchy shaping women’s lives.
Through vivid portrayals of iconic role models like Frida Kahlo and Erma Bombeck, I navigate time, embodying my past and present selves. Using my experience as a magician’s assistant—literally sawed in half—as a central metaphor, I invite audiences to reflect on finding happiness and authenticity amidst life's demands.
Performed solo with minimal staging, "Sawed in Half" breaks the fourth wall, fostering a shared exploration of leading an unbound, true-to-self life.
If you’re interested in collaborating to bring this production to life, I’d love to connect and explore co-production opportunities!
